It's very lacking in the humor department. Certain aspects of it actually remind me of a Jean era episode.
Anyway, one of the worst of season 10. 2/5.

It really isn't that good when I compare it to what I used to think of it, but I still enjoy and think it's pretty funny. Nothing incredibly special though.

This is probably the best non-halloween trilogy episode ever, but that's not really saying much.

This episode started something that would later become very popular, especialy in the Jean era – three parters. The episode contains three different stories of each family member dreaming of themselves as Bible characters. I think the idea quite original and fun, although I’m not a religious person.
The first story of Adam and Eve is a classic and is probably the best of the three. Flanders was fantastic as God. Some of my favorite moments in this story is the pig of Eden offering ribs to Adam, branch monster, ‘’You’re pretty uptight for a naked chick’’ and the magazine God gave to Eve.
The second story is about Moses and Israelite slaves. Milhouse got the part of Moses, which I found rather strange. Nonetheless, the story was very funny, with many great jokes with Moses, like the one with converting. Also, some hilarious scenes made by Skinner (Pharaoh).
Homer’s short dream of being King Solomon was brilliant, but it was interupted by Bart’s dream of being Kind David. This last story was weaker than the rest of the episode, but it didn’t ruin it overall. The ending was absolutely incredible and made the episode even better, with the family waking up in the church, realizing apocalypse has come. All five are sent to hell, by the way…

Guh, I despise this episode. Layered with painful, cringe worthy jokes. The only memorable gag in the entire episode was Bart's "heiroglyphic chalkboard gag". D

Very strong episode. Good satire on religion, lots of funny jokes (branch monster, "I will eat the pie", "Let my proclamation go out across the land - Ha ha!") and perfect characterisation of almost everyone. Loved Milhouse as Moses muttering "Let my people go" :D

I have done plenty of day dreaming through boring sermons. There are excellent sermons, but they are certainly not all hits.
I think the episode make a point about how little casual Christians know about The Bible. Had the Flanders family dreamed The Bible wrong, I'd be insulted.
The ending could simply be Maggie's dream. Though, at this point, it is impossible to create any sort of cannon to the Simpsons. Huge quantities of shows would have to omitted, overlooked, or explained away.

Not a fan of these 3 part episodes unless its a THOH and this one was not memorable in any way.
3.5/5
Edit: After rewatching this, I have decided it is one of the best 3 part episodes, if not THE best aside from the THOH and therefore I'm upping my original rating of 2, to 3.5

Adam And Eve: I heard this episode was banned from some places because they are naked throughout this segment. That true? Either way, this is my second favorite out of the three.
Moses: My least favorite, but only because it is lame, and the ending is dull.
DVG2: I liked this one, my favorite. I seriously loved everything about it.
King Solomon: Would have been interesting, but Bart's story was better

I've never found these trilogy episodes to be that spectacular. I don't think there was ever a spectacular one (I'm obviously not including THOHs). This was the earliest and probably is one of the best ones because of that. It's interesting change of pace and should be treated as non-canon for people worried about the ending. 3/5

I gave this one 4 out of 5.
The only thing that I didn't care for was Homer's brief dream sequence that seemed tacked on.
If this episode was made today as a quadrilogy, Homer's dream would be extended as long as the other three dreams or Homer's dream would be a spoof of possibly Jonah and the Whale or Noah's Ark instead.
Funniest part was seeing Santas Little Helper talking to Bart with the voice of Goliath the dog since I never saw that coming.
Although The Simpsons Spinoff Showcase was the first Non-Halloween trilogy, it was probably Simpsons Bible Stories that lead to the production of more of these type of episodes. It often seems like they write them when they are acting too unimaginative to write a canon episode.

Never been a fan of the trilogy eps but this ones not too bad. Lisa's story is my favourite. The student/slave idea was quite clever. And Milhouse as Moses is just funny anyway. The apocalypse ending took me by surprise the first time I saw it and I wasn't a fan but on reflection not much on the show catches me off guard nowadays.

I rewatched it yesterday, and to be honest it's not quite as excellent as I remembered.
What has damaged my opinion on this episode is the fact that Marge's and Lisa's dreams (Adam And Eve and Moses) have done too little for me this time. I think these both stories show the same problem in the construction of plot and humor that makes most trilogy episodes have very little rewatchability. The jokes are focused on the easy, sometimes lazy, contrast between the tale fantasy and the real world, with prevalence of anachronistic details. In this one, they are dreamt by characters who are obviously influenced by pop culture, and this is the formal reason for these, but I find them a bit repetitive, childish and uninspired (that "Give my regards to the British Musem" from Wiggum being the perfect example). And, while they are still fairly bearable in Marge's story, they cross the line in Lisa's.
The rest actually works quite well. The King Solomon bit is brilliant. Short and simple, but extremely hilarious. And Bart's view of the David Vs Goliath tale was my favorite from the episode, I loved how they made it look like the typical action B-movie.
So, this is it. With its flaws, this episode is way more elaborate in its form and essence than most of the season, which is translated in the fact that the way the stories are told fit so well the traits of the characters who dream them (being Homer's and Bart's the best examples, but also Lisa's and probably to a lesser extent Marge's). But there are things, specially in the humorous part, that don't seem to work really well in the context of the series, not to mention its little value in rewatch. I had this as one of my top5 favorites of season 10 and a clear 10/10, but that doesn't stay up anymore. 8.5/10

3/5 for me. I like it more now than I have in the past but overall I still find it to be a dull episode.

4/5 Had some good gags here and there, but I thought a lot of scenes were beautifully animated, namely Marge sleeping and waking up with her long hair lifting from the grass, or Lisa and Milhouse sliding down the pyramid, parting the sea, etc. Bart using corn holders to climb up the tower of Babel was pretty funny

I've never liked this episode. It could be because I'm an atheist, but I also think that there are very few jokes that I think are truly funny.
This is probably the best non-halloween trilogy episode ever
Agree! I think it was both clever and bold for The Simpsons to do a episode like this. Heck! I wish they would do a sequel with some other Bible stories, like they did with this one or the Jesus segment in "The Simpsons Christmas stories" and all the quick spoofs in "Homer and Ned's Hail Mary pass". I love all the references, pretty sophisticated humor.
A lot of it was an insult to christians
I'm a Christian Catholic who use to work in a catholic school... And I didn't find this episode to be offensive, at all (Then again I consider “Life of Brian” one of best comedy movies ever written)
In my opinion there is a huge difference between taking religion and using it in a comedy/for laughs and attacking it... And to be onest you have to be a christian to get all the refrences like the lamp and the lion, Manna or Krusty talking about Sodoma.
I just re-watch this episode and I didn’t notice a single joke that was in bad taste or felt like a attack on Christian people (I can’t speak for Jewish people and how they reacted to the Moses segment) The clauses thing I can think of that may be too much for some of my more sensitive brothers In faith are God rating out Bart, and perhaps some of line by God during the Garden of Eden sequence however the fact that it was Marge dream plus it was Flanders playing the part, sucks-out the offensives, by making it somebody imagine God rather then actual portrayal of Him.
My only complaint is that I just wish they would be a slightly more chronically correct - for example Jesus wasn’t born until almost thousand ear AFTER king Salomon. While this is meant to be anachronism on purpose I’m just afraid some people (especially kids) will watch dish and consider it as a fact.
Overall a Fantastic Easter Special! ;)
Oh, that's raspberry!

Season 10 continues with a non-Halloween trilogy episode! It is Easter and the Simpsons are in church. After Homer puts a chocolate bunny in the collection plate they must endure Reverend Lovejoy's endless bible lecture. Each member of the family dozes off...
Marge's Dream: We're given a spoof of the Adam and Eve story here with Homer and Marge filling the roles. I found quite a bit to like here. Flanders as God was very nice as was Snake as....the snake. I also liked the British pig, Homer and Marge on People, the unicorn and its death, and the ending line about God holding a grudge. As is the case for the entire episode the animation here was very nice. I found it interesting that Homer is the one who forces Marge to eat the forbidden fruit here as the roles are reversed in the actual story. Anyway I'll say 4.5/5
Lisa's Dream: We move on to the book of Exodus where Milhouse is filling in for Moses and Skinner the Pharaoh. This one was also entertaining with highlights including the burning bush telling on Bart(after this first aired I remember saying "the bush set me up" quite a bit around school) Skinner using the hieroglyphics in his note, Bart with the chalkboard, a nice callback to Lost Our Lisa with the Orb of Isis, Wiggum telling Lou to just splash Eddie back, and again the last line with Milhouse hoping all the troubles soon end for the Jews. 3.5/5
Homer's Dream: Homer is King Solomon and must hear court cases. This one I won't grade as it was too short but I always loved the pie gag although looking at it as an adult I suppose it is rather predictable. I felt indifferent about the Jesus gag though, didn't really love it or hate it.
Bart's Dream: Bart is King David and must face Goliath 2 in a sendup of action movies. I also liked this one quite a bit with my favorite parts being Santa's Little Helper as Goliath from Davey and Goliath, the several biblical references like Jonah, Bart training with the sheep, Ralph's random reappearance, and Wiggum's famous Edward G. Robinson line near the end. 4/5
I also enjoyed the ending bit and tend to just ignore this one in regards to continuity. I was born and raised Roman Catholic and went to Catholic school for 12 years but this episode never even came close to offending me or anything like that. If anything I was just happy I got most of the references. While not the first trilogy episode this one is regarded as the first in a long line of them which will likely continue in Season 23. Overall definitely one of the better non-Halloween trilogy episodes and I'd say a 4/5.

My favorite joke is the "No." of Ralph, also the "My accident" is great.
But I don't really like the apocalyptic end.
